Call It What You May...

...ombre, melting, blending, fading, etc...

I am IN LOVE with it right now! I am hoping and praying this trend doesn't fade (see what I did there!?) anytime soon.

I love the creativity this trend requires of me, and the freedom it gives me as well. It's also so fun to talk with other stylists to hear how they are doing it, since the techniques are absolutely endless!

Here are just a few, and I mean FEW, of the ombre's I have done the last while.

Kaley

Taryn

Ashley

Myself. Oh wait, I didn't do this one. But I swear I can't imagine my hair without it!

Malsies

Tiana

The variety this trend offers seems endless as well! Although possible to duplicate from client to client, I don't have to since everyone's preferences are so different, which makes it all that much more fun!

For those of you looking for a fun new look, and also looking to extend the timeframe between color appointments, this is the color for you!

Salon Miscellaneous

The work of a 1" ceramic Hot Tools curling iron, and some elbow grease on that blow out. Then the reward of Pineapple Licorice.

Salon time with Marli and Mally is always a winner day.

Marli and I also enlightened Mal on how to curl her hair sans heat. It was a success!

More of That Ashley

We've been from corkscrew blonde, to copper ombre, and now to deep red-brown.

We are really diggin' experimenting with straight locks and that fabulous full fringe (say that 10x fast).

Handsome couple! Oh ya, Ash, I swiped this from your IG!

Can you even believe this is the same lovely lady? (Aug '09) And I know I've mentioned this before, but can you believe her second born stole (STOLE!) her curls!?

Man I love her and her little crew.

Please, please do yourself a favor and check out her photography at http://ashleythalmanphoto.blogspot.com/
Especially the recent yoga shoot she did with my sister, Megan. Unbelievable.

Felicia

My beautiful friend, Felicia, has stunning hair, and I have the pleasure of coloring (shhh, don't tell her boyfriend...wait, could it be his own fault that he hasn't even noticed that yet?), cutting and styling it.

Courtney

I'm gonna level with you here. There are sometimes clients that come along with a certain request, and you just know deep down it's going to be real dang hard to achieve what they want AND make it look good. Ocassionally it doesn't turn out to your satisfaction.

{before}
Awaiting Runway extensions in three different colors.

Considering what I had to work with, I'd say they turned out decent!

Unfortunately, extensions are not for everyone. Courtney found it too tempting to pick at, peel, and pull them out. Sad day. Also, so very bad for her hair. You can't pull out extensions without ripping out your own hair.

Please remember to always have a professional remove your extensions of any kind!

Sil-Bil's 'Stensions

Spreading the extension joy!

Chelsea and I put in Ali's Hothead Extensions today! I just keep getting more and more excited about these, and want to do them everyday! The transformation is incredible and the hair itself is uh.mazing.

{another before}
Jessie came up from Vegas and did a special birthday shoot for Ali a few weeks ago. Hair, makeup, photography, shoot styling...all done by Jessica!

{after}

A totally different look! Such fun to experiment with a "new you". Trust me, I'm speaking from experience.

Here's the scoop on the hair that I'm in love with...

.No damage, no extra hair loss
.Tools needed? Comb and clips.
.No pain.
.No trouble laying on them (aka: no lost sleep!)
.No wasting hours upon hours of application time.
.Reusable (they should be repositioned every 8-10 weeks), and if the hair is treated well it can last up to a year!
.No matting or frizzing.
.Comes in four different lengths (10-12", 14-16", 18-20", 22-24")
.100% Indian Remy hair from India. So soft, and magically adjusts to your hair texture! (Ok, not really, but it absolutely seems so.)
.Comes in 20 different shades.
.So easy to care for!

I am hoping to give client after client these Hotheads Extensions in my chair. Email me {caitlyncox(at)gmail(dot)com} for pricing and details! You WON'T be discouraged!

Annie

Annie came in feeling "blah" and combating a case of the post pregnancy hair loss blues (looks like she's got plenty to spare, eh? But that regrowth is a real mess to deal with. Trust me).

So...we transformed her from drab to fab!

{after}

Styled using:
.Brocato Root Lift, Brocato Swell Volume Gel Mousse, and Brocato Actives Restorative Hair Infusion

Lacey

Did anyone else find Scarlett Johansson's new cut at the Oscars absolutely stunning? I thought she looked so major (hi, I'm Rachel Zoe).

Lacey brought me these pictures as inspiration for her new 'do, and I'm totes magotes digging the end result.

{inspiration}

{LOVE!}
I also refreshed her ombre color with a balayage technique (my new obsession).

Styled using
.Brocato Root Lift, Brocato Swell Volume Gel Mousse, and Brocato Actives Restorative Hair Infusion
.Small-medium round brush
.Loose waves done with a 1" flat iron
.Finished with Kevin.Murphy PowderPuff, Pureology Texture Twist Pomade and Brocato Moveable Hold Hairspray

Surely you remember this transformation?
And then this one?

Well, she's back! A little touch up at the roots and a little accessory above the brows.

Kaley

I've been entertained by this girl's blog for the last year. What a pleasure to have this funny thing in my chair.

Kaley has recently started student teaching and came in really wanting ombre highlights, but hesitated since she didn't want to cross any lines at work. So freaking glad I talked her into this.

{before}
And yes Kaley, I stalked your facebook

{after}

Just by touching up her roots with a very dark brown and a hint of gold, then balayaging her ends, and doing a caramel colored glaze in the washbowl, we transformed her from basic to bodacious! (or another cool word starting with "b")

Meaga

I've been dolling up these ladies for quite some time now, but this B&A is about the chickie on the right. She's been sporting such a rad black cherry color, but it was time for a change!

{before}

{during}
Craving that drink right now. Is 2 AM too early for one?

{after}
That's right, the copper gold was calling to us!

Such a foxy lady!

Ging Ninj

My proudest B&A as of yet.

Can't even tell you how grateful I am to have a skill I can do trades with. In exchange for Sammy's Halloween pics and our mini photo shoot, I transformed Ashley's hair to something new. Very new.
should that have been kept under wraps?

{before}

{after}

I used balayage to distribute very natural highlights and leave her roots looking deeper and darker.

My head about exploded reading all the comments Ash received on her blog when she revealed her new 'do.

After taking this first step, Ashley got more and more ballsy and decided she wanted to be a real ginger! It was also a good idea to refresh the color since we deposited onto her virgin, uncolored hair, which was very healthy and didn't absorb the color like most hair does, resulting in some fading.

Of course she brought donuts to our next appointment so I really whipped out my best work.

{after-after}

Most exciting thing for Ash was her new eyebrows! She always had them, o'course, but they were uber light.

And my favorite...the lips! Ahhh...the red lips!

Be still my heart!

Next step? Bangs! This girl just can't be stopped...bring on the change!
Loving it!
